Taipei 101

Xiangshan

Who is eligible?

  • These Passes/Tickets are available only to foreign passengers who have entered the Republic of China (Taiwan) on a non-ROC passport and a valid short-term entry document, which may be Visa-exempt entry, Visitor Visa, Exit & Entry Permit Taiwan Republic Of China, APEC Business Travel Card, or other documents which entitled the holder to stay in Taiwan for less than 180 day.)
  • Passports are required to exchange Pass/One-Way Ticket, select seats and board on train. If there is any discrepancy found between passenger’s passport and purchased voucher, the voucher will be refused to exchange. Please also carry your valid entry document (e.g. Visa-exempt entry, Visitor Visa, Exit & Entry Permit Taiwan Republic Of China, APEC Business Travel Card, etc., issued by an official authority) for inspection. Please present your entry document when the staffs request for.
  • For Child Pass/One-Way Ticket, children over the age of 6 years and under 12 years old may purchase the Child Pass/One-Way Ticket; and children under 6 years old who do not occupy a seat are not required to purchase a Pass/Ticket, but those who would like to occupy a seat will have to purchase a child Pass/Ticket. The children passport must be provided to confirm their eligibility when exchanging or boarding. If the identity of the child found is ineligible, the Pass/Ticket will be refused to exchange and board.
  • THSRC and TRA reserve the right to refuse unqualified passengers to exchange and use the Pass/Ticket.

How long is a Pass/One-Way Ticket valid?

  • "3-Day Pass" - The Pass is valid for 3 consecutive days that must start within 28 days after the Pass is exchanged. The dates once specified cannot be changed.
  • "Flexible 2-Day Pass" - The first date of journey can be any day within 28 days after the Pass is exchanged. The second date of journey can be any day within 7 days starting on the first date of journey. The dates once specified cannot be changed.
  • "5-Day Standard Joint Pass" - A validity period is required to be specified when exchanging. The period once specified cannot be changed.
    • The first date of the validity period can be any day within 28 days after the Pass is exchanged.
    • The Pass will be valid for rides on TRA trains for 5 consecutive days starting on the first date of validity period.
    • The Pass will be valid for rides on THSR trains for any 2 days within the 5 consecutive days starting on the first date of validity period.
  • "5-Day Premium Joint Pass" - A validity period is required to be specified when exchanging. The period once specified cannot be changed.
    • The first date of the validity period can be any day within 28 days after the Pass is exchanged.
    • The Pass will be valid for rides on TRA trains for 5 consecutive days starting on the first date of validity period.
    • The Pass will be valid for rides on THSR trains for any 2 days within the 5 consecutive days starting on the first day of validity period.
  • "One-Way Ticket" - The Ticket is valid for any one day within 28 days after the Ticket is exchanged. The date once specified cannot be changed.
  • A day starts at 00:00 and ends at 23:59 on the same date. For example, a passenger purchases a 5-Day Premium Joint Pass and chooses January 1, 2020 as the first day of the validity period. Therefore, the Pass is valid on TRA trains for the period starting at 00:00 on January 1, 2020 and ending at 23:59 on January 5, 2020; and it will be valid for rides on THSR trains for any 2 days within the same 5-day period.

How to use

  • Passengers who purchase the Pass/ Ticket through a travel agency or the THSR Pass Website will receive a voucher that may only be used in exchange for the THSR Pass, Joint Pass, or One-Way Ticket but cannot be used to board directly.
  • The Pass/Ticket must be exchanged within 90 days, including the date of payment, at ticket counters; the validity period/date of Pass / Ticket is applicable from the next day of the purchase.
  • The Joint Pass can be exchanged at ticket counters of Taiwan Railway or Taiwan High Speed Rail. Collection at a TRA ticket counter is available only at Songshan Station, Taipei Station, Taoyuan Station, Taichung Station, Tainan Station, and Kaohsiung Station. The Joint Pass holders must collect boarding ticket(s) at the designated TRA station(s) to travel on TRA trains.
  • Please present the voucher and your passport (original) to exchange a Pass/Ticket, and also carry your valid entry document (e.g. visa-exempt entry stamp, visa, entry& exit permit, APEC Business Travel Card, etc., issued by official authority) for inspection. If you are unable to present your passport(original) and entry document, or if the information on your passport does not match the information on the voucher, Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taiwan Railway reserve the right to refuse the exchange.
  • When exchanging the Pass/Ticket, a validity period/date is required to be specified simultaneously. The period once specified cannot be changed.
  • Passengers traveling on a Pass/Joint Pass or One-Way Ticket must enter and exit a station through a manned gate and present your passport (original) for inspection. If a passenger is traveling with an invalid Pass or unable to present the passport (original) or the information on the passport does not match the information on the Pass/Ticket, the passenger will not be permitted to board the train, or will be requested to pay the full fare if already on a train.

Eligible trains

  • "3-Day Pass" and "Flexible 2-Day Pass" give passengers access to non-reserved seats. To ride in a reserved seat, the passenger will have to visit a ticket counter to reserve a seat at no additional charge. However, the following rules will apply:
    • The passenger has to present the passport (original) and "3-Day Pass" or "Flexible 2-Day Pass" and make a reservation at a THSR ticket counter. Seat reservation is not accepted over the phone or on the Internet.
    • The Passes do not provide access to business class.
    • Seat availability is not guaranteed during rush hour or national holidays.
    • "3-Day Pass" or "Flexible 2-Day Pass" holders who have reserved seats should ride in the seats specified in the Passes when they travel. To change a reservation, please visit a THSR ticket counter at least 30 minutes prior to the train it departures.
  • "5-Day Standard Joint Pass" gives passengers access to THSR and TRA trains:
    • THSR trains
      • The Pass does not provide access to business class.
      • "5-Day Standard Joint Pass" holders may ride in non-reserved seats. To ride in a reserved seat, the holder will have to visit a THSR ticket counter to reserve a seat at no additional charge. Seat reservation is not accepted over the phone or on the Internet. To change a reservation, please visit a THSR ticket counter at least 30 minutes prior to the train it departures.
    • TRA trains (Pass collection is available at 6 stations: Songshan Station, Taipei Station, Taoyuan Station, Taichung Station, Tainan Station, and Kaohsiung Station.)
      • The Pass does not provide access to Tze-Chiang Limited Express, Taroko Express, Puyuma Express, tour or cruise trains, or any other trains announced by TRA.
      • Passengers may ride in any empty seats on Chu-Kuang Express or Fu-Hsing Semi Express. Seat reservation is not available.
    • Seat availability is not guaranteed on THSR or TRA during rush hour or national holidays.
  • " 5-Day Premium Joint Pass" gives passengers access to THSR and TRA trains:
    • THSR trains
      • The Pass does not provide access to business class.
      • "5-Day Premium Joint Pass" holders may ride in non-reserved seats. To ride in a reserved seat, the holder will have to visit a THSR ticket counter to reserve a seat at no additional charge. Seat reservation is not accepted over the phone or on the Internet. To change a reservation, please visit a THSR ticket counter at least 30 minutes prior to the train it departures.
    • TRA trains (Pass collection is available at 6 stations: Songshan Station, Taipei Station, Taoyuan Station, Taichung Station, Tainan Station, and Kaohsiung Station.)
      • The Pass does not provide access to tour or cruise trains, or any other trains announced by TRA. Passengers will not be permitted to board Taroko Express or Puyuma Express without a seat.
    • Seat availability is not guaranteed on THSR or TRA during rush hour or national holidays.
  • "One-Way Ticket" gives passengers access to non-reserved seats. To ride in a reserved seat, the passenger will have to visit a ticket counter to reserve a seat at no additional charge. However, the following rules will apply:
    • The passenger has to present their passport (original) and "One-Way Ticket" and make a reservation at a ticket counter. Seat reservation is not accepted over the phone or on the Internet.
    • The ticket does not provide access to business class.
    • Seat availability is not guaranteed during rush hour or national holidays.
    • "One-Way Ticket" holders who have reserved seats should ride in the seats specified in the ticket when they travel. To change a reservation, please visit a THSR ticket counter at least 30 minutes prior to the train it departures, and the reservation for the Ticket only can be changed once.

Other Rules

  • A Pass/Ticket cannot be refunded in any way once it has been used to exchange a Pass or a One-Way Ticket. No replacement or refund request or lost Pass/Ticket claim will be accepted when a Pass/Ticket is lost, damaged, or stolen before a journey starts or after a journey ends.
  • THSR is not responsible for any train delay, interruption of service, or cancellation, or other extraordinary circumstances that occur while a Pass is being exchanged. THSR will not refund the Pass or extend the validity period of the Pass under such circumstances.
  • In the event of a train cancellation or interruption of service on the day when a One-Way Ticket is being exchanged that causes the passenger to suspend traveling at the station of departure, the passenger will be able to bring the unused "One-Way Ticket" to the travel agency from whom the ticket was purchased and apply for a refund.
  • Only the original Taiwan High Speed Rail Pass, Joint Pass, and One-Way Ticket shall be valid. Any duplicate, altered, or damaged beyond recognition copy of an original Pass/Ticket will not be accepted.
  • Refund is only available if the voucher has not been exchanged and is within the valid period. Refund process can only be handled from the original issuing travel agency, and the refund policy may vary from agency to agency.
  • When purchasing a Pass from THSR Pass website, click "Print Invoice" after completing the payment to receive the proof of purchase (available only on PC version). When purchasing a Pass/Ticket from a travel agency, please contact the agency for proof of purchase or receipt. (No additional proof of purchase will be issued when a Pass/Ticket is exchanged to collect a reserved seat ticket.)
  • Confirmation email will not be sent by THSR after successful online booking. Please click "Query/Cancel" on the top of the homepage to inquire your order
  • "One-Way Ticket" is currently not available through THSR Pass website. Please contact one of the travel agencies.
